Commemorating 150th Anniversary of Battle of Fort Stevens

Photo detail

More than a thousand visitor’s watched the one-hour reenactment of the Batlle of Fort Stevens unfold at Fort Ward. Fort Ward was chosen as the site of the reenactment of the only civil war battle in Washington because no battle was ever fought there and Fort Stevens is considered sacred ground as 50 or so Union troops died and hundreds of Confederate soldiers lost their lives.
