Letter: Letters to the Editor-Libraries, Parks And Bikes
To the Editor: The City of Alexandria intends to expand the Bikeshare program at the expense of libraries and parks that benefit all residents. It is expected that 960,000 people will visit Alexandria’s libraries in 2014; this is 53 times the number of Bikeshare members in the region. Yet, the city is cutting libraries by $93,000 and giving Bikeshare $120,000.
Letter: Letters to the Editor- All in All, A Failure
The recently passed Virginia transportation funding bill HB 2313 is not favorable to northern Virginia. It eliminates cents per gallon tax at the pump that is estimated to generate $4.5 billion during the 5 years ending 2018 and imposes new taxes that generate an estimated $5.9 billion during the same period.

Letter: Volunteer for the Games
Letter to the Editor
To the Editor: I love this community. There are so many ways to serve a community as diverse and as vibrant as ours. I recently competed in a special election to succeed Congresswoman Comstock. While I came up short in the vote count, largely due to the unfortunate weather on Election Day, I am as inspired to serve as I was on that day. My passion to serve others only strengthens with each pursuit.
Letter to the Editor: A New Kind of Candidate
To the Editor: Craig Parisot is a new kind of candidate running to succeed Barbara Comstock in the upcoming special election for the 34th Virginia House of Delegates District.
Letter to the Editor: A Wonderful Article
To the Editor: What a wonderful article you wrote, Kareese (“How I Left…” by Kareese Akinloba, grade 8, Irving Middle School, Children’s Connection, January 1-7, 2015). Your writing ability is beyond your years.
Letters to the Editor: Electric Entitlement
To the Editor: Like so many others, I’m excited to see the day where combustion engines are a thing of the past.
Letter: Supporting Comstock
Letter to the Editor
To the Editor: I recently attended the VA 10th District Town Hall that was hosted by the Fairfax Chamber of Commerce. Only one candidate embodied the forward thinking, bipartisan leadership that we need to get the job done in Congress and that’s Delegate Barbara Comstock.
Letter to the Editor: Independent Bike Count
Out of sheer curiosity I counted bicycles and observed pedestrians and cars at the intersection of Royal and Cameron on Thursday, Sept. 4 from 5-7 p.m. This day and time corresponds with those used by the city and its data collection volunteers from BPAC (Bicycle, Pedestrian Advisory Committee). I did this in order to provide a “blind” count of the flows, i.e. one uninfluenced by prior alerts.

Weighing ‘Greater Good’s’ Impact
To the Editor: TC lights: This is just another example of the city's total disregard for its residents. How many of the School Board members live in the impacted residential area? How many of our council members?

Letter to the Editor
Byers’ Legacy
When retired Col. John R. Byers passed away in July 2012, I suggested to the Fairfax County Park Authority (FCPA) that the Williamsburg North Park on Collingwood Road be renamed in his honor. He lived in the neighborhood and walked by the park on a daily basis.

Letter: Leader or Sore Loser?
Letter to the Editor
He needs to decide whether his legacy will be that of leadership or that of a sore loser.

Letter to the Editor: Up Close
The OspreyCam on Little Hunting Creek in Stratford Landing within our own community (www.littlehuntingcreek.org/ospreycam.html) has infrared capability and as such will operate 24/7, save for occasional computer glitches.
Letter to the Editor: Best Use of City Funds?
Many third world countries would be ashamed of the condition of paving in Alexandria.
